Dr. Vasilieios Basios (BSc, MSc, PhD) during his formative years worked within the team of the Nobel laureate Ilya Prigogine at the International Solvay Institutes for Physics and Chemistry at the University of Brussels (ULB), from where obtained his PhD (2001). He became a senior researcher at the Department of Physics of Complex Systems and at the Interdisciplinary Centre for Nonlinear Phenomena and Complex Systems at the University of Brussels (Cenoli-ULB). He is conducting interdisciplinary research on self-organisation and emergence in complex matter as well as aspects of the foundations of complex systems, especially on the borderlines between biology, physics and complexity.
